Ossett Albion safely reached the semi-finals of the West Riding County Cup following the 2-0 win over Garforth Town at Dimple Wells.
Goals early on in each half from Connor Brunt and Connor Bower booked a tie at either FC Halifax Town or Bradford (Park Avenue).
In-form striker Rob Bordman was a huge presence for Albion, who have just climbed into the Evo Stik Division One North play-offs zone.
Bordman beat the offside trap for the opener. His run down the right wing ended with a low cross that enabled Brunt to score.
Garforth walk away from Dimple Wells with their heads held high. The Miners gave everything against their higher-league hosts and were unlucky on a few occasions.
Curtly Martin-Wyatt’s desire to chase down lost causes forced Albion goalkeeper Brett Souter to blast the ball at him. The striker retrieved it and nearly curled the ball over him from the edge of the penalty area – his moment of glory was denied by defender Danny South’s quick-thinking.
Albion put the tie beyond Garforth’s reach straight after the interval. Former Garforth striker Bower staked his claim for a regular slot with a surge down the right before a powerful finish.
Martin-Wyatt and Danny Harris were Garforth’s best hopes for a goal. The former again tested ex-Shaw Lane Aquaforce stopper Souter late-on, but the goalkeeper came out on top.
