Lee Morris came off the bench to guide Shaw Lane Aquaforce to a 2-0 victory at his former club Belper Town.

Morris replaced injured striker Gavin Allott in the early exchanges and played a vital role in Aquaforce’s welcome return to action after four weeks without a game.

The Boxing Day victory consolidates Aquaforce’s position in the Evo Stik Division One South play-offs zone.

Shaw Lane did ride their luck at times as Belper created a few opportunities in the first half – Phil Watt notably hitting the crossbar.

Ian Deakin also made an excellent save from Alex Steadman before the visitors went in front.

Player-assistant manager Morris actually won the penalty that he went onto convert on the half-hour.

Goalkeeper Deakin kept Shaw Lane ahead with another stunning stop from Evan Garnett in the second half.

That laid the platform for the killer second goal. New Aquaforce wing wizard Rob Youhill did all the hard work out wide by cutting the Belper defence to ribbons. The former Harrogate Railway winger then passed the ball across goal to give Morris one of the easiest goals of his career.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce: Deakin, Stoher, O’Brien, Istead, Radford, Jones (Meynell 74), Youhill, Thornhill (captain), Allott (Morris 12), Bennett (Priestley 67), Dean. Subs unused: Sharry, Davidson.
