Graham Nicholas is still waiting for his first Evo Stik Division One North victory after his Ossett Town side lost 2-1 at Mossley.
A slow first half dealt Ossett a deadly blow as a positive second half performance wasn’t enough to mount a successful comeback.
Mossley started really strongly and after a succession of corners, Tom Dean turned and scored to put the home side in front.
In response, Tawanda Rupere raced through, but Mossley’s goalkeeper was alert to the danger and able to smoother the danger.
Tom Platt doubled Mossley’s lead close to half-time. His drive down the left wing ended with a tremendous strike that landed in the top corner with goalkeeper Chris Backhouse completely helpless.
With a tactical switch at half-time seeing winger Cameron Lyn coming on, Ossett were much more of a threat in the second half.
Former Harrogate Railway striker Roy Fogarty gave Ossett hope with a neat finish ten minutes in the half.
The visitors thought they had equalised late-on when Andy Hawksworth’s drive appeared to cross the line as a defender raced back to clear.
However, the assistant referee kept his flag down, denying Ossett a point.
