Steve Adams believes the victory at Garforth Town in midweek is the reward his Parkgate players deserve for their recent displays.
Parkgate’s season received the kiss of life after their 13-game winless Toolstation NCEL Premier Division run came to an end.
Adams said: “It was much-needed because we had gone god-knows how many games without a win.
“The last one was in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup. We’re down near the foot of the league and we need points on the board and sooner the better.
“We could have got something on Saturday against Brigg, but we didn’t get the rub of the green.
“On Tuesday with the contentious goal that stood, we got that bit of luck we needed.
“We are where we are in the league and it is by our own making. Performances two months ago weren’t good enough, but I feel that in the last four games we have played really well.”
Parkgate had to come from behind to secure their three points as Garforth led 1-0 at the interval.
Jordan Turner came to the fore to lead the comeback with two goals and an own assist.
Adams added: “It wasn’t looking good at half-time with the one goal deficit, but we always felt we would get back into the game because we were creating chances.
“We knew sooner or later we would take one of those chances. We didn’t change anything for the second half, we just told the lads to keep playing.
“I thought that they would tire and I think they did late-on.
“A point would have been good. A defeat would have been a disaster so three points was very welcome.”
Parkgate host Worksop Town tomorrow.
