Paul Stansfield is delighted with how Knaresborough Town are currently performing.
Knaresborough have emerged as outside play-offs candidates after a run of five wins out of their last six Toolstation NCEL Division One matches.
Stansfield admits it will take some effort to reach the top six, but admits it is not the end of the world if they don’t.
“Apart from Penistone, we have done really well in the last month,” Stansfield told Non League Yorkshire.
“We’ve won six out of seven. We beat Mansfield away, we beat Bottesford so long may it continue.
“Like we have found this season already, you can’t get carried away. We have won six on the bounce before and then lost four or five.
“We have set a good platform for the second half of the season and we have set targets.
“We want 45 points from the second half of the season – that’s our aspiration.
“If we get 79 points then we will have done very well and exceeded expectations.
“If we do that, we’ll either be just short or in the play-offs. We have to believe we have a chance of getting in them because there is no point in playing otherwise.
“If we play like we have been doing recently then we have a chance.
“If we don’t reach the play-offs, we don’t. This season has been about progression. We have changed the side around and I’m really pleased with how it is going.
“We didn’t have a pre-season so we have been building during the season and I don’t think we are a million miles off.”
Knaresborough are due to visit Westella VIP tomorrow.
