Play-offs chasing Ossett Albion succumbed to a third consecutive defeat.

The game was fairly even for the first 20 minutes until title contenders Northwich took the lead. The visitors attacked down the right and the ball was crossed into the centre. Brian Summerscales met the cross and sent the ball looping over the advancing Brett Souter in the Albion goal.

Albion were struggling to keep in touch then and in the 31st minute a through- ball from the left saw Richie Bennett in on goal and he had no problem beating Souter. It took Albion until the 45th minute to get a shot on goal and that was from Rob Bordman who fired straight at Mason Springthorpe in the Northwich goal.

Any thoughts Albion had of getting back into the match were dealt a blow just two minutes after the restart when Iain Howard fired a shot from the edge of the box which was low and just inside the post.

Northwich were full of running, finding their players with ease and deserved to take all three points. Albion found it difficult to match the physical side of their play and needed too much time on the ball.

Ossett Albion: Souter, Nicholson, Hardaker, Claisse, South, Riordan, Brunt (Bower), Paylor. Bordman, Matthews (Kiwanda), Muller. Subs unused: Walker, Ndlovu, Thompson.
