Adrian Costello is urging his Garforth Town players to show the defensive resilience from the draw at Nostell in their home game with Cleethorpes Town tomorrow.
Garforth are yet to win in 2016, but the goal-less draw at Nostell one week ago was a huge step in the right direction after several heavy defeats.
“It has been incredibly frustrating recently,” Costello said.
“When you ship goals, everybody says it is either your goalie or your defence’s fault, but it hasn’t been.
“We have had our centre-midfielders Harry McMillan, Liam Hardey, Ash Preece, Spencer Lund all out injured and we never had two of them back at one time. At Nostell it was the first time we had two of them back fit.
“We had players who normally play at number ten playing in midfield. We are asking them to do a job which has been alien to them.
“It is still frustrating because we are still missing Ash Preece with his broken nose, but he will back soon. I’m hoping the corner will be turned soon.
“I would hate to think that we have kept a clean sheet and that was a one-off. We have to say to lads now ‘remember back to Friday, remember how we defended and let’s go out with the same positive attitude to the start of the next game’.”
