Stocksbridge left play-offs rivals Lincoln with a solid point to keep themselves primed for a strong bid to break into the top five.

Stocksbridge, without suspended former Lincoln striker Scott Ruthven, were put under a bit of pressure in the first half, but Chris Hilton’s men stood up to the test.

Goalkeeper David Reay made two excellent saves from separate chances involving Mitch Griffiths and Jack McGovern.

Stocksbridge’s best opportunity in the first half came from Sheffield United youngster Spencer Maw, whose low drive was parried away.

Chances were limited in the second half. Brodie Litchfield also almost connected with Rory Coleman’s free kick for Stocksbridge’s big moment.

Lincoln almost broke the Steels’ resolve in the dying minutes after substitute Gary King broke clear on goal. Reay was Stocksbridge’s last man standing, but lucky King made a mess of chance by firing wide.

Stocksbridge Park Steels: D Reay, Meade, Tootle, Gregory, McFadyen, M Reay, Maw, Biggins, Litchfield, Lumsden, Coleman. Subs: Palling, Poulton, Thompson, Laight, Hilton.
