Shaw Lane Aquaforce have signed one of the most feared strikers in Non League football ahead of the trip to runaway leaders Stafford Rangers.
Bradford (Park Avenue) striker Walshaw has joined Shaw Lane on a loan deal for the rest of the season. The move heavily bolsters Shaw Lane as they bid to pull off the unthinkable of snatching the title away from Stafford. The forward recently spent time on loan at Frickley Athletic.
Walshaw, who has won numerous awards, built up his reputation at Ossett Town and Guiseley. His goals were a key part of Guiseley’s NPL Premier Division title-winning season in 2010. He has also played for Farsley Celtic, Wakefield FC, Altrincham and Harrogate Town.
Craig Elliott said: “It is a massive signing for us. Anyone who has watched Non League football in Yorkshire in the last ten years knows Wally and what he is capable of. I’m absolutely over the moon to get him.”
Elliott has also signed versatile left-sided player Josh Grant from Farsley Celtic.
The good news continues for Aquaforce as midfielder Lee Bennett, arguably their best player this season, has committed himself to Shaw Lane for the rest of the season after interest from other clubs.
