Harrogate Railway have upped the stakes in the battle for survival with the incredible loan capture of Darlington 1883 predator Amar Purewal, in time for the must-win trip to New Mills.
The signing will sent shockwaves across the Division, especially at Ossett Town, Scarborough Athletic and Radcliffe Borough, the teams that Railway are hoping to chase down and overtake.
The striker is returning from a cruciate ligament injury so the loan move to Railway helps all parties out. The deal expires at the end of March.
“I think I have to say it is an unbelievable coup for Harrogate Railway to have someone of Amar’s quality playing for us,” Ashforth told Non League Yorkshire.
“We have got him through my relationship with Martin Gray and I have to thank him for letting Amar come.
“He’s coming back from injury. He’s been training really hard for the last month and the match at Ossett Town last week was his first since the specialist gave him the go-ahead to play.
“He’s got the pedigree to be a top player and he’s Darlington record goal-scorer with over 50 goals in two years. That’s a record not to be sniffed at.
“We’ve got him for nine or ten games and let’s see where we are after that.”
