Ben Rhodes got his first goal since moving to Penistone Church as Ian Richards’ men cruised into the fourth round of the League Cup.
Two goals either side of the half-hour mark from Ollie Fearon and Jack Moore gave Penistone the perfect half-time lead against their higher-league opponents.
Rhodes, borrowed from local neighbours Stocksbridge Park Steels, struck twice in the second half to seal Penistone’s progress.
Penistone boss Richards said: “We were excellent from start to finish, outplaying a team in form from the division above. Tonight we proved how strong a squad we have, with the performance of certain players giving me a nice selection headache for Saturday.”
