Shaw Lane Aquaforce cut further into runaway Stafford Rangers’ lead after a straightforward win at Carlton.
Aquaforce were by far the better side and the opening goal which arrived on 28 minutes was inevitable from the start. Gavin Allott went on a fine mazy run on the right and when he cut into the penalty area his cross was steered home by Jono Wafula from close range.
Shaw Lane doubled their lead on the hour mark when James Walshaw sent a pile-driver into the net from 25 yards.
The visitors were awarded a free kick on 62 minutes 25 yards out on the right hand side and Walshaw fired an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net to double Shaw Lane’s advantage.
Matt Thornhill preserved Aquaforce’s clean sheet after clearing off the line before Walshaw added the third in the final minute from the penalty spot.
