Lee Morris is urging Goole AFC to kick on and lift themselves further away from the relegation zone after the 12-game winless run ended in midweek.
The surprise 2-1 victory at play-offs chasing Stocksbridge Park Steels opened up a five point gap between them and second-bottom Loughborough Dynamo.
“I think we are in a false position, but we are down there for a reason as they haven’t been winning games,” Morris told Non League Yorkshire.
“We have now picked up four points out of the last two away games and like I said to the players on Tuesday night, it is like a snowball effect.
“Let’s now pick up as many points as we can and finish as high as we can. We can’t get carried away though after one win.
“The hard work has only just begun. The signings has made the difference as they have given us the experience that we have been missing.”
The victory came in only his second match at the helm since replacing Alan Semley. Morris promised to bring experienced players to the club after his appointment, which he has done with the captures of Anton Foster and Nathan Joynes. He also does not foresee further signings.
“To be honest, no, I think have done my business,” he said.
“I have got what I want unless there is major injuries then I would have to see. At the moment I’m happy with what I have got and inherited.
“I have experience now in Anton Foster and Nathan Joynes and I have an exciting signing in Luke Mangham, who people haven’t seen the best of yet.”
With the signing of Joynes from Handsworth Parramore, it does leave a question mark over his own playing career. He did step into the breach in his first game by coming on as a late substitute in the defeat to Chasetown. Initially the former Frickley striker did say he would still play a part on-the-field. His view has since changed.
“Football is about my opinions which makes it great, but for me Nathan Joynes is one of the best strikers in this area at this level,” he added.
“He proved that two or three seasons ago when he was playing for Stocksbridge. I think he will be a great signing.
“From my point of view, Nath is missing a couple of games because of a pre-booked holiday so it may mean I have to play, but I do have Aaron Moxam and Nick Guest who are playing really well.
“I found it hard on Saturday playing and managing and I’m not sure if you can do both.”
