Craig Elliott is excited about the capabilities of his fearsome strike-force at Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

New signing James Walshaw has hit the ground running with four goals in three games and he is a massive addition to a frontline which already has Gav Allott, Adam Priestley and Lee Bennett.

New signing James Walshaw has hit the ground running with four goals in three games and he is a massive addition to a frontline which already has Gav Allott, Adam Priestley and Lee Bennett.

“I think we have four top class strikers,” Elliott told Non League Yorkshire. “I wouldn’t swap them for anyone.

“We have Wally now, Gav has had a great season and Lee Bennett has arguably been our player of the season. Adam Priestley has also done well.

“We have lads there who can score goals at the right time. Wally has brilliant since he has arrived. His record speaks for itself and I knew what he would bring. He holds the ball up well and wins us free kicks.”

Aquaforce face a busy schedule in the two weeks as they play Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. The Thursday fixture is the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup tie with North Gawber.

The main priority is overhauling runaway leaders Stafford Rangers which is now a very real possibility. If Aquaforce win their six games in hand they will go one point clear at the top. Shaw Lane are currently 17 points behind Stafford.

“There’s still a lot to do and we have a lot of games so I’m just looking at each week at a time,” Elliott added.

“We have to enjoy what we’re doing at the minute and I’m enjoying watching us play.

“It has always been achievable to catch Stafford because it is mathematically possible to do it, but it is going to be difficult. We just have to give it our best shot and win as many games as we can.

“We have given ourselves hope and hopefully we can get up there and amongst them.”

Aquaforce host Newcastle Town tomorrow night.
