Stocksbridge remain with an outside chance of reaching the play-offs after a much-needed victory.

The Steels opened the scoring after an early assault on the Gresley goal. Scott Ruthven’s effort was parried by goalkeeper Rob Peet, but Rory Coleman buried the rebound.

Gresley then pressed the self-destruct button as Jake Carlisle was sent off for stamping. At the start of the second half, John Guy was dismissed after a handball – allowing Coleman to double Stocksbridge’s lead from the penalty spot.

Stocksbridge completed their fine victory with eleven minutes left. Joe Lumsden breached the Gresley back-line and went through to slot past former Ossett Town stopper Peet.
