Darlington striker Amar Purewal is unlikely to play for Harrogate Railway this weekend

Amar Purewal is unlikely to return for Harrogate Railway this weekend, Lee Ashforth admits.

Railway had hoped to be able to field their star loan signing for the second time since his move from Darlington 1883. Purewal is coming back from a long-term injury and he has had a hamstring problem after going off in his debut at New Mills three weeks ago.

“He is very close to coming, but I don’t think it will be this Saturday,” Ashforth said.

“I hope it is next Saturday. It will be a massive plus to get him back on the pitch because we all know how good a player he is.”

Railway remain second bottom, but are now one point behind Ossett Town after the 2-2 draw with Witton Albion in midweek.

Lancaster City are the visitors to Station View tomorrow and Ashforth wants to see a similar display to the one he saw against Witton.

“The message is the same again,” he added. “Lancaster are up and around the play-offs spots so they will be coming hoping to get a win.

“We just have to keep battling and putting in performances like we did tonight and see where it takes us.

“We hope it will be enough to get us out of the position we are in and I can’t ask for more from the players. The way they are committing themselves to training and matches and then putting in the performances, I’m not going to criticise them.”
