Brighouse Town ended a run of five straight league defeats after avoiding a second half fight-back from Kendal Town.

Brighouse made a positive start and with the help of one of the assistant referees, Danny Facey’s header was deemed to have crossed the line for the opener on 16 minutes.

Poor defending allowed Charlie Bailey to equalise straightaway for Kendal. But Kendal couldn’t defend themselves and another Facey header put Paul Quinn’s men back in front.

Kendal’s defence opened like the red sea for the third. Kendal just let the dangerous Ryan Hall run, enabling the home side’s star man to fire the ball into the bottom corner from distance.

Brighouse allowed the visitors back into it through Alex Newby straight after half-time. There were some nervy moments as Brighouse needed a couple of goal-line clearances to stay in front.

Kendall were eventually killed off in the final few minutes when Hall got in behind and scored with a composed finish.
