Ryan Hindley believes Hallam have a brilliant opportunity to snatch a play-offs place at the final hurdles, an achievement he says his players “deserve”.
The fact Hallam have three games in hand on sixth-placed Shirebrook Town make Hindley’s dream a very realistic possibility.
The Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup semi-finalists could even go four points clear of Russ Eagle’s Shirebrook. Hallam have already had a tremendous campaign, especially when compared with previous ones. Hindley’s men have also incredibly lost only one away league game all season.
“I think we’re in a great position with Penistone drawing and Shirebrook losing to Hull last week,” Hindley told Non League Yorkshire.
“Hemsworth are going to win the league and personally I think Emley, Bottesford or Mansfield for second place.
“It is hotting up, but I wanted a top ten finish because I wanted us to get in the FA Cup and I think we’re almost there.
“If we can sneak into sixth and that means we’re away from home then I’d be over the moon. You won’t see many teams better than us on the road. We’ve had one defeat in ten months and that’s credit to the lads.
“I don’t like talking about budgets, but we haven’t got any money. These lads come and play because they love Hallam. They think a bit about me, Stuart (Lowe) and the club so the praise goes to them because they have been outstanding.
“I hope and I mean this seriously, I hope they get what they deserve which is a play-offs place.”
Hallam host Grimsby Borough tomorrow.
