Rob Bordman made up for an incredible own goal by scoring twice to keep Ossett Albion on course for a top ten finish.

Albion gained the lead early on after poor defending from Clitheroe gifted Connor Brunt the opener.

Brett Souter and Bordman then combined to hand Clitheroe their equaliser. Bordman, regularly a scorer of spectacular goals in the right net, played a back-pass from the halfway line. Goalkeeper Souter took a swing at it, but somehow completely missed it before failing to stop it crossing the line.

Bordman turned the game into a one-man mission to redeem himself, initially firing home a penalty close to half-time.

The former Wakefield striker completed his double (or hat-trick) late-on with another spectacular strike – a chip over the Clitheroe goalkeeper.

Ossett Albion: Souter, Dawson (Thompson), Hardaker, Nicholson, Riordan, Paylor, Walker (Bojang), Sharry, Bordman (Hoyle), Brunt, Muller. Subs unused: Hunter, Hennesey.
