Westella VIP completed back-to-back victories from their furthest away trips by deservedly winning at Teversal.

Goals from Alex Wood, Chris Spinks, Andy Coverdale (2) and Joe McFadyen secured the 5-1 win at Dronfield Town on Thursday night.

36 hours later and VIP where back on the road as they travelled to Teversal for the first time in the clubs history, returning home with a 3-0 victory.

With some tired legs in the VIP squad, Luke Salas was given his senior debut start for the club and duly obliged scoring the opener of the game. Sam McLaughlin and Lewis Andrews combined well in the centre of the park with Andrews releasing Salas to run through on goal and slot the ball on home on eight minutes for 1-0.

Ten minutes before half time and the pace of VIP on the counter attack saw Salas pick the ball up on the half way line from a Teversal corner, Salas took two touches and slid through the ball for the on coming McFadyen who scored with a deft outside of the left boot finish past Sheppard for 2-0.

The hosts had some what of a fast opening 10 minutes of the second half but the VIP defence stood tall throughout with keeper Otley having to produce a point blank save from 3 yards out to keep the clean sheet.

Ricardo, Spinks and Hewitt where all introduced to the field with 25 minutes remaining seeing McLaughlin, McFadyen and Coverdale making way.

Full back Stone for VIP pumped the ball forward from a free kick, Wood flicked on and with his first touch of the Spinks fired in from the edge of the area and angled half volley that flew across goal and in to the top corner for 3-0.

Westella VIP manager Leon Sewell: ”For us to pick up six points in three days is fantastic as we are running on a threadbare squad at present due to injuries and unavailability.

“First half on Thursday away at Dronfield was disappointing and the lads knew it had to be better in the second half and it was far superior with the front four causing all sorts of problems for the Dronfield defence.

”On Saturday I asked them to start the game how they had finished against Dronfield and the lads sure did so, it was great to watch us play some really good attacking football and to see the two youngest players in my squad open the scoring for us was fantastic.

”We have got to back our results up now in our remaining six games and that begins on Wednesday evening when we welcome Lincoln Moorlands Railway.”
