Emery planning for Selby’s future

Nigel Emery is already thinking ahead to next season at Selby Town, even though he and Reuben Pearse are yet to receive the green-light from the club’s committee.

The interim joint managers are in the driving seat for the permanent position after a positive start to their reign in charge which began when Dave Ricardo was sacked in February.

Under the pair, Selby have given themselves an excellent chance of securing an FA Cup place for next season – fear of missing out on the top ten was one of the reasons Selby decided to replace Ricardo.

“Who knows, if we lose the next seven games 5-0 then probably not,” Emery told Non League Yorkshire after being asked whether he and Pearse would be leading the Robins in August.

“But I’d like to think we’ll be in charge beyond the end of the season. I’m planning for next year, but we haven’t sorted that out yet.”

In his full interview after the 5-0 defeat to Knaresborough, Emery also discusses the loss, the race for the top ten and his first two months in charge.
