Maltby link up with Football Academy

Maltby Main have linked with the North of England Football Academy (NEFA) to deliver a sports scholarship programme.

Two current Football League Managers Lee Johnson (Bristol City ) and Rob Page (Port Vale) are leading the football delivery side of the project where students in year 12 and / or 13 can work towards a BTEC Level 3 qualification.

The chief executive Ryan McKnight (ex CEO of Stockport County and The World Football Academy) will oversee the football scholarship.

Main have applied to the Conference Youth Alliance where they will play against Academy sides from League 2, Conference Premier, Conference North and Evo Stik leagues as well as competing in the F.A Youth Cup.

Home games will be played at Muglet Lane, while training is based at the £7m Hallam Sports park with the education element delivered by Times Top 100 and Grade 2 Ofsted Provider LifeSkills.

Maltby joint manager Spencer Fearn said: “This is a great development for our club and by working with top class Coaches such as Lee and Rob our scholars will get a fantastic football experience and be playing in a very competitive league. We will also be launching our under 21 side next season as we are putting in a structure to enable Maltby to develop good young players for years to come.”

Trials will be held at the Hallam Sports Park, S9 1UA on 30th April 2016 between 10-11.30 a.m and 12-1.30p.m.

An Information Evenings is to be held for potential students and their parents / guardians.

This will be held on 19th April between 7p.m – 8.30p.m at the Hallam Sports Park, S9 1UA.
