Mick Godber accepts Handsworth Parramore will have to “do it the hard way” if they are to win the title.

Tadcaster Albion are now top with a game-in-hand after the controversial 5-2 win which ended Parramore’s 18-game unbeaten run. The Brewers have seven league matches left, while Parramore have six.

Godber admits that Tadcaster are the driving seat and accepts that his side have it all to do.

“We said before the Tadcaster game that a win puts us in a great position,” Godber told Non League Yorkshire. “A draw, both managers would have took that before the game.

“But we lost so we’re going to have to do it the hard way. We have to win all six, we can’t afford to slip-up. That would put us on 97 points, but we can do it.

“We all have a busy run-in, but if Tadcaster win all seven you have to hold your hands up and say well done to them. If they slip-up, we have to make sure we’re there ready.

“But if someone had said to me when I took over in January that you would be a point behind the leaders with six games to play, you would have took it.

“We have had to win more-or-less every game since January, which we have and that’s credit to the lads.”

Parramore are away at Maltby Main this evening.
