Danny Frost scored the goal which has set up the chance for Ossett Town to preserve their Evo Stik status tomorrow night.

Frost edged Ossett past Bamber Bridge and a victory over New Mills tomorrow will complete the job that manager Grant Black inherited in February.

The former Shaw Lane Aquaforce striker was actually on the verge of being substituted when he struck the decisive goal midway through the second half.

Frost was limping because of a gash in his calf and Ossett’s management team were concerned enough to put his number on the subs’ board. However, he carried on and pounced to score after Bamber goalkeeper Lee Dovey had saved his initial effort.

There were some nervy moments for Ossett, but they held out and secured a magnificent result.

Ossett Town: Thewliss, Hawksworth, Kilner, McBurnie, Rogers, Monfredi (Wood 45), Payne (Brown 58), Ridley, Peterson, Frost (J Schofield 78), Mackie. Subs unused: L Schofield, Quinlan.

Comfortable night for Farsley

Farsley Celtic recorded back-to-back wins after winning 4-0 at Droylsden. There was a double for Lewis Nightingale and single goals for defenders Paddy Miller and James Knowles.

Clitheroe manager Simon Garner announced his impending resignation after side’s play-offs hopes were blown up in smoke by Brighouse Town.

Danny Facey’s brace plus an own goal and Ryan Hall’s strike earned Brighouse a memorable 4-3 victory.
