Nine-man Stocksbridge put themselves on the brink of securing a top ten finish after victory at Spalding.

Ben Rhodes placed the Steels in front early on with a header at the far post from Scott Ruthven’s cross.

The first man to walk was defender Matt Reay for a second bookable offence, just after the interval.

Former Armthorpe striker Joe Lumsden sealed the victory in the closing stages with a fine low drive.

The game then descended into the farcical as Corey Gregory then saw red. Spalding’s Sam Murphy saw red during stoppage time.
