Shaw Lane Aquaforce failed to close the gap on the Stafford after conceding a late equaliser for the second time in four days.

Aquaforce will look back on the two fixtures – against Goole and Kidsgrove – as a missed opportunity as leaders Stafford drew with Basford. Had Craig Elliott’s won both fixtures, they would have been in the driving seat to win the title.

It wasn’t Shaw Lane’s day again. It started badly as Joe Woolley headed Kidsgrove into the lead.

The tide turned Aquaforce’s way with a rapid equaliser through Rhys Meynell’s equaliser.

A close range header from Adam Priestley straight after half-time seemignly put Aquaforce on the path to victory until the late twist – Lewis Bergin’s goal for Kidsgrove in the dying seconds.

Shaw Lane Aquaforce: Morgan, Stohrer, O’Brien, Istead, Meynell, Dempsey, Wafula, Thornhill, Walshaw, Potts, Priestley. Subs: Edwards, Hands, A Davidson, Radford.
