A poor performance in their last home game of the season saw Glasshoughton Welfare concede four goals for the third time in their last three league games.

Welfare looked okay in the first few minutes and Lucas Middleton saw an effort go just over Shirebrook goalkeeper James Dean’s crossbar. However at the other end Oliver Beaumont hit the crossbar with home keeper Josh Archer beaten.

Welfare forced two corners on eleven minute but from the second one the ball was cleared up the visitors right wing and Liam Greenfield latched onto it and he hit the ball over Archer from thirty yards to open the scoring.

Welfare tried to hit back and a corner was hit into the six yard box, but their attack could not force the ball home. Ryan Poskitt fired a shot just wide and Jimmy Wlliams headed just wide from another corner.

Shirebrook virtually put the game to bed on 24 minutes when Welfare lost the ball twice with sloppy play, Beaumont volleyed home a right wing cross.

Similar to last week at Westella, Welfare lost the ball straight from the restart and Shirebrook went into the home area and Will Dodds slotted the ball past Archer.

As the first half ended Ashley Scothern for Welfare, headed a Kingsley Weatherald cross against the bar and then Dean parried a Weatherald free-kick away.

Shirebrook started the second half on top and the ever dangerous Greenfield put an effort on top of the goal net.

Welfare pulled a goal back from the penalty spot on 55 minutes when Dodds tripped Weatherald in the penalty area and the striker got up to beat Dean with the penalty kick.

As the game petered out Scothern could not quite guide the ball home from a cross and then Weatherald had a snap shot collected by Dean.

Poor defending on the edge of the welfare area contributed to the fourth and final goal for Shirebrook. An innocuous ball should have been easily cleared but it fell to Greenfield who ran on and he stroked home past the helpless Archer.
