Liversedge 3-1 Nostell Miners Welfare
Benny Igiehon’s double provided Liversedge with another victory, but Jon Rimmington’s men remain in the relegation zone.
Victories for Brigg Town and Armthorpe Welfare mean Sedge are in the bottom three with four games to go. Destiny remains in their own hands as they have several games-in-hand on the teams around them.
Liversedge made the perfect start when Roy Fogarty struck from distance and found the back of the net, within just two minutes.
It was soon 2-0 when good work by the team saw Igiehon with a free header and he made no mistake.
And within the first 20 minutes Igiehon had two and the home side had three as the hosts celebrated, Sedge kept pressing for more but were being kept out of creating clear chances by the Nostell defence, although a lapse in communication saw Igiehon nearly get his hat-trick but Neil Bennett did well to save.
Nostell then almost got a goal back when Blaine Kellett saw his shot cleared off the line, after he was found from a corner, but it was the home side who went into the break three goals to the good.
A downpour led to fans seeking shelter just after the start of the remaining 45 minutes, and the tempo of the game left for a part. It looked like there might be no goals in the second half, but Brian Ndaka was found in the area and produced a good header which gave Nostell what in the end turned out to be a consolation.
Nostell knew that they were relegated before the game, while Liversedge are still in the relegation places due to results elsewhere not going their way.
