Evo Stik Division One North
Ossett Albion 2-1 Trafford
Ossett Albion secured their top ten finish after holding on to beat Trafford at Dimple Wells on the final day of the season.
The first half started at a fast pace with Trafford looking the more likely to open the scoring.
But then Albion began to work their way into the game and Rob Bordman started to trouble the Trafford defence. He fired the ball low across the goalmouth and Abdou Bojang couldn’t stretch enough to make contact.
Jimmy Eyles chipped Russell Saunders in the Trafford goal, but the bounce took the ball over the bar. After the half hour mark Eyles was fouled on the edge of the box and Bordman beat Saunders with the free-kick to give Albion the lead.
Just before the interval Dominic Riordan didn’t get enough on his header back to Brett Souter and Dominic Smith nipped in to put Trafford back on level terms.
Straight from the kick-off the ball went forward to Eyles who beat the defender and chipped Saunders to give Albion the lead again.
The second half saw Trafford taking the game to Albion again as they had at the start of the first half. Albion responded and began to dominate the play limiting Trafford to shots from distance.
In spite of not being able to extend their lead, Albion comfortably saw out the rest of the game.
