Simon Rogers was rewarded for his efforts in Ossett Town’s successful survival battle by being named the supporters’ player of the year.

Rogers scored several important goals in the final stages of the season, helping Ossett pull away from Harrogate Railway and secure safety with a few games to go.

It was arguably Ossett’s worst season in recent memory until the arrival of Grant Black. Ossett started the campaign with John Reed. Reed and Ossett parted company after a run of defeats in mid-October. His replacement Graham Nicholas lasted eleven games and failed to win any of his nine matches in charge – which in turn plunged Ossett into a relegation battle.

Rookie boss Black was then appointed and picked up a victory in his first game – a 2-1 win at Burscough. One of the scorers that day – Alex Peterson – won the player of the year and managers’ player of the year.

David Brown, one of the few players to see out the whole season at campaign, got the committee’s player of the year trophy.

Popular physio Tally Kate received the managers’ special award.
