Billy Miller is hoping champions Tadcaster Albion can join the ranks of the NCEL’s greatest teams by completing the double tomorrow.

The curtain comes down on the NCEL season and Premier Division title winners Tadcaster have their sights on beating bogey side Cleethorpes Town in the League Cup final at Garforth Town.

A victory would see Tad become the first team to do the NCEL double since all-conquering Farsley Celtic romped to it in 2011.

“I always say with the League Cup and West Riding cups that in the early rounds that it doesn’t really matter and you give players who don’t normally get a game a run,” Miller said.

“Once you get through to the semi-finals, the more you want to win it.

“It would be brilliant if we can win the double. Farsley were the last club to do it a few years back.”

Cleethorpes pose a serious threat to Tadcaster’s hopes, especially when you consider that the Brewers have never beaten them in five attempts.

Cleethorpes are also hoping to gain redemption for the collapse in last year’s final. They cruising at 3-1 against Handsworth Parramore with six minutes to go. A red card and a Handsworth goal changed the situation. Parramore went onto win the cup with the last kick of the game.

“We have only played them twice this year so for me it is another game, but I know it will mean a lot for the club to play Cleethorpes,” Miller added.

“I think it will be a great day out for us. There’s no pressure on us. We have done our job. We have been running on empty, but we have had ten days recover so I’m sure we’ll be ready.”

Admission will be £5 for adults, £2.50 concessions and £1 for under 16s whilst anyone under 16 who is with a full paying adult will get in for free.

There will also be a special match-day programme available for £1.50.
