Experienced NCEL player Andy Sunley is the new assistant manager at Garforth Town

Andy Sunley has taken his first steps into management by becoming Garforth Town boss Rob Hunter’s assistant.

Sunley has played under Hunter at Tadcaster Albion and Glasshoughton Welfare.

He broke into the semi-professional game with Harrogate Railway – with one of his early appearances being the FA Cup victory over Whitley Bay in 2002, a key game on Railway’s route to the second round proper tie with Bristol City. Sunley struck a wonder goal in the Whitley Bay clash.

He then joined Paul Marshall at Tadcaster Albion, helping them win promotion of Division One. He remains a popular figure at the i2i Sports Stadium.

Serious injuries have hampered his playing career in recent years, but he has still turned out for the likes of Liversedge and Eccleshill.
