Toolstation NCEL Division One
Title-winner Gary Stevens is going to be AFC Emley’s goalkeeper next season, Non League Yorkshire can reveal.
Stevens’ decision to leave Premier Division champions Tadcaster Albion was announced on Tuesday. He cannot commit to the Brewers because of the extra travelling required in the Evo Stik.
Stevens replaces Adam Lawlor at the Welfare Ground and it will be his second stint with Emley. He played for Highworth in the FA Vase quarter-final tie with Taddy in March 2015 before moving up North. He immediately signed for Emley and made handful of appearances at the end of that season.
The capture is a major coup for Emley and reinforces their desire to win promotion. Emley have been very busy in the transfer market since the play-off final defeat to Bottesford. The likes of Ash Flynn and the most of last season’s squad have agreed to stay. Adam Wilson and Aaron Joseph have been announced as new signings.
