Loyal players Joel Hughes and Chris Hitchings are working alongside Phil Harding in the new look Yorkshire Amateur management team.

The double appointment ends the ten-day search for replacements for departed pair Rick Addy and Dave Thompson.

Harding remains at the helm and Hughes and Hitchings will both combine playing and their new coaching duties.

Harding said: “We think promoting people from within is the best way forward.”

The news is extremely positive for the Leeds-based club. They both have good knowledge of the local football scene and are still valuable assets as players in the NCEL.

Hughes remains a leading NCEL striker and has consistently turned down offers from elsewhere to stay with the Ammers. Hitchings has had a few spells at the Ammers and also played in the Evo Stik. He has been one of the Ammers’ main defenders for the past two seasons.

The Ammers started their pre-season schedule on Tuesday night. Their next session is on Thursday night at Soldiers Field in Roundhay at 6.45pm. Anyone interested in coming along to train should contact Harding on 07983 043809.
