Knaresborough Town have started their summer business by announcing four signings.

The quartet all strengthen Paul Stansfield’s side which came so close to finishing in the play-offs last season.

Left-sided player Byron Littlefair is the most notable as he returns to Manse Lane after one season away. He has spent the last 12 months at Thackley alongside midfielder Ben Cohen, who also joins Knaresborough.

The other two captures are strikers. Tom Hesketh arrives, he featured for Harrogate Railway last season.

The final one is a blast from the past in former Tadcaster Albion striker Tom Woolard, who has not played at NCEL level for a few years. Woolard, also an ex-Farsley Celtic and Glasshoughton forward, has been concentrating on his coaching career.

Paul Stansfield said: I am really pleased with the four signings we have made to this point. Not only are all the lads great footballers with excellent pedigrees, but they are also super lads with a great work ethic and will have a huge impact on the group.

“We said at the end of last season that we needed a little experience to blend with our talented youngsters and we feel we are somewhere near ready, with maybe one or two players still to come in.

“We now look forward to pre season having kept all players from last season a lot of whom have had offers from elsewhere and cant wait for the season to start.”

Knaresborough have also announced that their long-serving physio Peter Monks has stepped down.
