Luke O’Brien’s move from Shaw Lane AFC to Farsley Celtic has been confirmed.

O’Brien ended his 18-month association with the Barnsley-based side last week to find a new club closer to his West Yorkshire home.

The former Bradford City left-back will be remembered at Shaw Lane for being in the side that won the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division in 2015.

“I wanted a new challenge for myself, which playing in the NPL Division One North against different teams and players provides as an incentive,” he said.

“My main hope for the forthcoming season is to gain promotion with the club. I think this season could be a great chance to do that with the quality of players already here and the two new players (James Walshaw and Richard Marshall) who have signed so far this summer. With Farsley’s history, I think they should be playing at a higher level.”
