Carl Stewart has triggered a fight for his signature after deciding against re-signing for newly-promoted Tadcaster Albion.

Clubs in West and North Yorkshire are set to battle to sign the proven Toolstation NCEL Premier Division striker.

His decision ends his long association with Tadcaster. His final season at the i2i Sports Stadium was dogged by injury, but he was instrumental in a few of Tadcaster’s victories in the latter stages of the campaign.

Stewart’s swansong in a Tadcaster shirt was in the League Cup final defeat to Cleethorpes. He was also on the scoresheet.

He said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Tadcaster Albion for everything over the last few years, I’ve had a lot of unbelievable times and met some quality lads.

“Also I’d like to thank the TSC, best fans in non-league football. Get behind the lads in the Evo-Stik and go smash it.”
