Jack McCarthy’s move from Garforth Town to Darren Kelly’s Hyde United has been announced.

The highly-rated young defender has always been a much-sought after player and he was being chased by at least one Yorkshire Evo Stik club this summer.

The jump up a league to Hyde brings an end to his two-year association with Garforth.

In his first full season at Garforth, he won the players’ player of the year trophy. Injury disrupted last season, during which he was also dual-registered at Harrogate Railway and Ossett Town.

Moving to Hyde reunites him with striker Curtly Martin-Wyatt, who recently signed for Hyde.
