Knaresborough Town would been in this season’s Emirates FA Cup if Lincoln Moorlands Railway had not failed to finish the season.
Knaresborough, and Selby Town, have had their applications to play in the world renowned tournament rejected as they failed to meet the points-per-game acceptance threshold of 1.64.
It means they miss out on the chance of winning much-needed thousands in prize money.
Because the competition is oversubscribed, step six clubs across the country are judged on their points-per-game ratio.
Knaresborough’s 1.6 ratio was ultimately not good enough. However, if Lincoln had seen out their final three games of the campaign, Knaresborough would be kicking off the league season on August 6th with an FA Cup tie.
The expunged six points they collected over two games with Lincoln would have taken them to a ratio of 1.66, which would have been more than enough.
Selby would have missed out regardless of their six ‘lost’ Lincoln points as their ratio was only 1.5. Their official tally is 1.425.
