Stocksbridge face Sheffield United’s first team tomorrow

Chris Hilton is expecting Stocksbridge’s prestigious opening pre-season friendly against Sheffield United tomorrow to be “a great occasion”.

The Blades are in town for Chris Wilder’s first game in the charge and it is anticipated that Bracken Moor will be packed to the rafters.

Hilton told Non League Yorkshire: “It is fantastic that we are Sheffield United’s first opponents this summer.

“Chris Wilder, who is obviously from Stocksbridge, is someone I was at Rotherham with.

“He did a fantastic job at Northampton and we’re happy he’s got the job because it hopefully makes our links stronger.

“The fact he’s bringing the first team down is great for us. It will bring in a lot of revenue and I think there should be a good 1000+ here, maybe even a couple of thousand.

“It is going to set us up for the season so it is going to be a great occasion.”

Admission prices are £7 for adults, £5 for OAPs and £2 for children aged 12 to 16 years. It is free for children under 12 if they accompanied by a paying adult.
