Nigel Emery has warned Selby Town supporters to stay tuned for further “big-name signings” in the near future.

The Selby manager and his associates Reuben Pearse and Mick Carmody have already pulled off one major coup this summer with the capture of Tadcaster Albion midfielder Liam Ormsby.

Asked if more big-name signings are likely, Emery told Non League Yorkshire: “Yes.

“I would say we hope to get another three signings from leagues above us. They could sign in the next few weeks, they could sign in the next week. We are just waiting.

“We have made our offers and hopefully we will have those three in the next two weeks.

“The massive one so far is Liam, even in training he’s different class. He’s a really good player and I can’t wait to get him out on the field.”

Emery, Pearse and Carmody have been extremely busy over the summer and 20 players have signed on so far.

The figure, regardless of any potential big-name signings, is likely to increase before being cut before the season begins on August 6th..

“We’re bringing more in if they sign, we can only gamble on that.” he added.

“We have signed on the players from last year and with the additions of four or five we have improved the squad.

“Obviously we are only going to sign players on now who are going to improve the squad.

“It is a lot of players, but people sign on for teams and then go elsewhere before the season starts. We have to take that into account.

“Hopefully we will start the season with a squad of 17.”
