Last season’s surprise package Maltby Main are heading to the North East tomorrow to complete a mini pre-season tour.
It is not a Jolly Boy’s outing either as Maltby will be facing Northern League giants and 2012 FA Vase winners Dunston UTS tomorrow night before facing Newton Aycliffe on Saturday.
Maltby will also be fitting in a training session in Newcastle on Friday as they look to continue to improve fitness and freshness levels for the big kick off on 6th August.
Joint Manager Spencer Fearn said: “We are taking 20 lads up to the North East, which is a mix of last seasons’ first team, some new recruits and also some of the younger lads that have come in this summer as part of our Reserve and Academy team development.
“We have two very tough games planned against Northern Premier League opposition, which will be a good test for us and give us chance to look further at some of the newer players.
“Our friends at Dunston UTS have been fantastic in helping arrange a venue for training on Friday and could not really have done anymore to assist for our visit. They really are a fantastic club.
“As well playing the two games and training, it has been rumoured that the lads will be able to enjoy a night out in Newcastle on Saturday evening.”
