Over 1000 people are going to be converging on Athersley Rec tonight for their eagerly-anticipated friendly with a Barnsley X1.
Tickets have been selling like hotcakes for the game, which will also see Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom officially open the club’s new supporters stand.
Although prepaid ticket sales have finished, you will still be able pay on the night.
Rec manager Sean Margison said: “It is a great occasion for the club. A lot of our lads are massive fans and its a game we have hoped would happen for a number of years. It is fantastic we have finally got it sorted and we must say a massive thank you to them for meeting with us last season and kindly agreeing to send a side down.
“Let’s not forget that Lee Johnson and Ben Mansford also came and did a Q & A session for us and Hecky is opening the new stand on the night.
“Credit to the board for organising things, the volunteers who have been busy preparing the ground and will be making sure things run smoothly on the night. But a particularly big thank you to Daz Bell who BFC must be sick of hearing from. Daz has been instrumental in organising the fixture being our 1st point of contact and can be proud of pulling it off.
“We are hoping for a big crowd on the night not only to help with the clubs finances, but also to create a fantastic atmosphere for both sets of players. We are under no illusions how tough its going to be for us, but it will be a great experience and all we want is for both teams to enjoy it, get something out of it and lets hope we can do it again in the future.”
Kick off is 7.00pm and it is £6 for adults and £3 for concessions.
