Glasshoughton Welfare secured a good win in their second pre season game with a solid display against a youthful, but skilful Ossett Albion side.

Albion’s first team were in action at Parkgate where they won 2-0.

Welfare fell behind in the second minute when Connor Beaumont rifled past Ben Saynor.

The home side soon got into their stride however and threatened the vistors goal a number of times before equalising with a sumptuous 30 yard strike from Olly Maude after 29 minutes following great inter-passing between several Welfare players

Andy Horbury then notched two just before the break capitalising on rebounds off Albion keeper Jake Rodgers.

It could have been four just after the break when Rich Collier headed against the bar. However great persistence by Nathan Keightley on 60 saw him poke the ball home after Rodgers had blocked his initial effort.

Further goals followed with Jermaine Moyce hitting home in the 69th minute before Andy McManus completed the welfare scoring with a towering header from a corner in 71 minutes.

With a quarter of an hour left Beaumont slotted home his second of the game after Saynor parried a cross.
