Garforth Town assistant manager Andy Sunley and former Glasshoughton Welfare physio Sam Crawford are raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust on Sunday 31st July.
Sunley and Crawford are hosting a charity family football day at Tadcaster Magnets in memory of their friends Sonny Brogan-Clark and Claire Armitage.
There will be activities for children, along with a BBQ. All the money raised is going towards Crawford and Sunley’s Huskie Trail next March, which is in aid of Cystic Fibrosis.
“We’ve both lost friends to cystic fibrosis – my friend Sonny who was quite a big character at Tadcaster Albion and Sam’s school friend Claire,” Sunley said.
“I think it will be a really good day. Rob Hunter is organising one of the veteran teams and he’s got some ex-Premier League superstars coming.
“We’re hoping to raise £2,000 and £3,000 overall from the day. Myself and Sam are doing to Huskie Trail through the arctic in March so we need to raise £8,000 between us.
“The charity game is the first stage of getting towards £8,000. We’re going to be having other events throughout the year away from football. We’ll be doing a couple more bigger events.
“The charity means a lot to myself and Sam. It also means a lot to the Northern Counties East League because of Sonny and there’s been a lot of support for the charity since she passed away.”
Admisision is going to £5, £3 for children. Under 5s go free.
