The new stand at Tadcaster Albion
Everyone at Tadcaster Albion is very proud to see the new main stand almost completed, Billy Miller has said.
The new structure is expected to be finished next week when contractors arrive to put the roof on.
Miller is thrilled to see the stand in place and he told Non League Yorkshire: “I popped down the other day to have a look at it and even though the roof is still to go on, it looks outstanding.
“We (Miller, chairman Matt Gore and head of sport Danny Gore) were in the stand on Thursday and it just looks the part. it is perfect in every form. The views are really good from the back too.
“I’ll be possibly sitting in there this season, it depends on how good (assistant Matt Heath) Heathy is.”
“Tadcaster is definitely a club on the up. The ground looks brilliant now because of the stand and the pitch which is looking brilliant.
“The credit goes to Danny Gore, Matt Gore, Jimmy Gore, Kent Mayall who put the investment in. Then there’s Dave Wakefield who spends every hour of the day on the pitch along with the lads who built the walls and picked leafs off the pitch.
“The credit has to go to them because it is starting to look like a football club. I said when I came to the club that off-the-field it was set up to be two or three levels above. We just have to meet that expectation over the coming years.”
Former Garforth goalkeeper Ben Hunter appeared in goal for Tadcaster once again
The main stand was used for the first time when a team of ex-professionals took on Tadcaster’s first team. Former Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Dunn was one of the players who took part.
Tadcaster’s band of trialists – including Lewis Morgan and Fatlum Ibrahimi – also featured for the Brewers. A decision on the fate of the trialists is likely to be taken in the next ten days.
Former Garforth Town goalkeeper Ben Hunter appeared again for Tadcaster in the latest friendly and he could learn whether Tadcaster are interested at the same time.
On the current goalkeeping situation, Miller added: “We gave Ben a full run because Charlie was away coaching.
“Charlie is here until September and I keep going on record saying we think he is good enough. Ben is one of our trialists at this moment in time so we’ll see where we are at the end of next week.
“There’s plenty of options at the minute. Since Non League Yorkshire’s advert went out, I’ve had quite a few goalkeepers call me.
“There has been a bit of interest on the goalkeeping front, but we’re not in any rush or panic.”
