Former Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers midfielder Dave Syers featured for Guiseley during the 4-3 defeat to Leeds United.

Syers is a free agent after his short-term contract with League One side Rochdale ended recently.

His Football League career began with Bradford in 2010 and spells with Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Rochdale have followed.

He was winning rave reviews for his displays until a horror knee injury in August 2014 put him out for a long time.

Prior to joining Bradford, Syers was a popular player at Ossett Albion and then Farsley Celtic. During his semi-professional days, he became known for being an excellent emergency goalkeeper.
