Graham Nicholas saw his new-look Nostell Miners Welfare side win for the first time – in emphatic style too, against Handsworth Parramore under 21s.

The only familiar face in Handsworth’s line-up was star striker Kieran Wells.

After two disappointing performances, against Goole AFC and Ilkley Town, Nostell got exactly what they needed.

The signs were good straight from the beginning as Nostell probed their visitors from kick off. Fidel Mhlolo did all the hard work for the opener as his run ended with Ryan Mottley-Henry forcing the ball home after Handsworth were unable to clear their lines.

Young Steve Smith doubled their lead on the hour mark with a free kick on the edge of the Parramore penalty area.

A Mhlolo header in the closing minutes sealed the victory.
