Josh Greening’s clinical second half display earned one half of the Tadcaster Albion team a 5-1 victory at Yorkshire Amateur.
Greening scored four times as Tadcaster managed to overcome a well-organised Ammers side.
The rest of Tadcaster’s squad lost 3-2 at Eccleshill United.
Assistant manager Matt Heath was at the helm of the victory at Bracken Edge. Captain Jimmy Beadle gave the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division champions the lead with a powerful drive. That goal was quickly cancelled out by a smart finish from Ammers player/coach Joel Hughes.
Greening began to come the star of the show on the stroke of half-time after lobbing goalkeeper Surawa Bojang.
The Ammers struggled to cope with Greening as the game wore on and that showed as he rattled three further goals home.
The Ammers should take a lot of heart out of the friendly as for periods they more than matched their Evo Stik opponents.
A double from Matt Mathers was a key reason behind Tadcaster’s defeat at Eccleshil.
Although a Conor Sellars penalty put the Brewers in front, Mathers scored twice before the break.
Paddy Wintie levelled it up on the hour mark, but Adam Turner went onto score the winner for Eccy.
