Bridlington Town 0-1 Tadcaster Albion
Adam Baker’s first half penalty was the only goal of the game as Tadcaster Albion saw off Bridlington Town at Queensgate.
Tom Corner really should have got the ball rolling after quarter of an hour but the former Scarborough Athletic striker fired wide from 10 yards.
The home side responded and almost took the lead themselves with captain Ryan Nicholls powering a header narrowly over the mark.
The Brewers were stretching Brid’s back line time and time again as the high defensive line continued to be exploited.
It was Baker’s turn to run in behind this time crossing for Tom a Corner who could only flick onto the base of the post.
The clear cut chances for Taddy were totting up as opportunities kept coming and going.
Baker’s soft header gave Corner a golden chance to beat James Hitchcock from seven yards but the Brid stopper stayed big. The rebound found its way to Conor Sellars who couldn’t drag his shot wide.
Bridlington failed to test Tad’s Trialist goalkeeper on several occasions as Joel Sutton could only shoot wide after a neat passage of one touch play.
However, with three minutes to go until the break The Brewers took the lead.
The lively Baker was clearly wiped out inside the box which left referee Andy Dunne with no choice and the man himself stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Into the second half and Taddy continued to pressurise Bridlington pushing hard for further goals to cement the win.
Baker came close to doubling the lead and his tally for the afternoon but saw his fierce half volley tipped onto the crossbar by Hitchcock.
The aforementioned Rob Youhill almost scored a Beckham esc half-way line goal from virtually the same position. However Youhill’s super effort dropped just wide of the target.
